PocketLiftBack injuries continue to be one of the leading causes of job-related lost workdays.  Even without a legally-binding ergonomics standard, many employers now recognize that back injuries can have a significant impact on both the well-being of their workers and on the company’s “bottom line.”

This product is a handy solution for screening, evaluating, and redesigning lifting tasks before they cause back problems in your employees.  PocketLift uses a well-respected evaluation tool developed by NIOSH to assess single and multiple lifting tasks (please see the NIOSH web site for more information on the lifting equation).

PocketLift features the following capabilities:

  • Allows entry of an unlimited number of tasks (restricted only by available memory)
  • Single and multiple task calculations
  • Grouping of tasks based on process (“warehouse activities,” “moving parts,” etc.) or task type (e.g. “single” vs. “multiple”)
  • Context-sensitive help: when entering or editing a task, simply touch the variable name to retrieve a description of the variable and its bounds
  • Sorting of tasks alphabetically or by Single Task Lifting Index (STLI)
  • Export reports of single tasks, multiple tasks, or complete groups of tasks to the Palm’s resident memopad in tab-delimited format for importing into your favorite word processor or spreadsheet on the desktop
